BELGRADE, SEPTEMBER 23 /SRNA/ - The Church of Saint Sava has always stood and will always stand with the Serbian people in Republika Srpska; this is the message of His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije, read by Vicar Bishop Ilarion at the ceremony marking the opening of the “Days of Srpska in Serbia” event.
The Serbian Patriarch emphasized that the Church does not remain silent on the current situation and crisis, expressing concern over the process of delegitimizing Republika Srpska and the institution of its president.
He appealed for everyone to do everything together to preserve peace and ensure a peaceful future for the generations to whom responsibility is owed, calling for the safeguarding of peace and for us to become better.
Vicar Bishop of Novo Brdo, Ilarion, conveying the paternal blessings of His Holiness, emphasized that throughout history the Serbian people have steadfastly endured the roar of storms and torrents directed against their religious and national identity, yet, looking to Christ, have time and again risen anew, testifying that freedom has no price.
“It is only through freedom that man becomes similar to God,” Bishop Ilarion conveyed the words of the Serbian Patriarch.
