ALBANIAN TERRORISTS ATTACKED ARMY AND POLICE IN VUČITRN

BIJELJINA, SEPTEMBER 27 /SRNA/ - Albanian terrorists threw two explosive devices into the grounds of a military barracks in Vučitrn on September 28, 1996, while police stations were attacked in the village of Rudnik and in Podujevo.

Armed attacks by Kosovo Albanians on Serbian police checkpoints continued in the months that followed, eventually leading to open clashes in early 1998.

The terrorist campaign against Serbia began on April 22, 1996, when Albanian terrorist groups carried out their first major coordinated operation. In attacks in Dečani, Peć, Štimlje and near Kosovska Mitrovica, five people were killed and four others wounded.

In Dečani, Albanian separatists killed three civilians during an attack on the Čakor cafe.

Near Peć, on the Peć-Priština road, attackers opened fire on a police patrol and wounded two officers, while a police officer was killed in an attack on the police station in Štimlje.

A woman was killed and a police officer seriously wounded in an attack near Kosovska Mitrovica.
