WHO DESTROYED SERB CEMETERIES IN KAKANJ?

SARAJEVO, AUGUST 27 /SRNA/ - The Committee for the Protection of the Rights of Serbs in the FBiH asks the religious and political leaders of Muslims to answer the question of whose army destroyed the Serb cemeteries in the municipality of Kakanj.

Documenting everything with photographs, the Committee states that the Orthodox cemeteries were completely destroyed in the pre-war Serb settlements of Gnjilice, Tičići, Donji Lučani, Dračić, Kondžilo, Mamići, and Ponijevo in the municipality of Kakanj.

The most common targets were crosses, and from the manner in which they were demoshed and the number of those destroyed, the Committee concludes that the cross was obviously undesirable.

Most of the monuments, some of which are 200 to 250 years old, were destroyed from 1992 to 1995, but it is a common phenomenon that the Christian Serb monuments are still demolished in FBiH today.

The Committee for the Protection of the Rights of Serbs in the FBiH points out that no one was held accountable for the demolition of the monuments in the Serb cemeteries in the municipality of Kakanj.

After 33 religious and political leaders of Muslims in BiH signed a statement in March stating, among other things, that "their army has preserved key objects of religious content of other peoples," the Committee for the Protection of Serb Rights in FBiH is seeking the answer who destroyed Orthodox churches, chapels, parish homes and cemeteries throughout that entity.
