TWO SUSPECTS RELEASED AFTER ATTACK ON SERB RETURNEES IN VOGOŠĆA

SARAJEVO, SEPTEMBER 3 /SRNA/ – Two suspects arrested in connection with an attack on Serb returnees in Sarajevo’s Vogošća neighborhood have been released, the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor’s Office said, citing a lack of legal grounds for further detention.

The attackers, who are suspected of attempted robbery, were released on the orders of the duty prosecutor after being questioned by the Sarajevo Canton Interior Ministry.

The Prosecutor's Office told SRNA that further action in the case would be determined after the Sarajevo Canton Interior Ministry submits a report on the alleged criminal offence.

The Sarajevo Canton Interior Ministry previously said that two men, identified by their initials as A.K. /27/, and M.K. /25/. both residents of Vogošća, had been arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery.

Serb returnees A.Š. /92/, and his son B.Š. /68/, were attacked at their home in Vogošća during the night of August 25-26.

A family member of the victims said that A.Š. was brutally beaten, suffering a stroke as a result, and that the attackers then fired shots at his son, who was not injured.
