BANJA LUKA, SEPTEMBER 16 /SRNA/ - Bosniaks in Bosanski Petrovac celebrated the expulsion of 125,000 Serbs and the killing of 655 of them during the past war, thereby putting pressure on the remaining Serb population to leave their homes, DNS leader Nenad Nešić said after a video of the incident was posted on social media.
Nešić stressed that it is appalling that 31 years after the war there is still no respect for the dead and that crimes committed during Operation Maestral are being celebrated, under the same insignia and with the same chants under which they were committed.
"Raising tensions and intimidation are not the path to coexistence, but rather a continuation of the persecution of the Serb population," Nešić said.
He stressed that the expulsion of 125,000 people and the killing of 655 of them are not reasons for celebration, but for an apology.
"Can you imagine what would happen, and what kind of outcry we would hear all the way to Brussels, if the suffering of other peoples were celebrated in this way in Republika Srpska?" Nešić asked.
