GUJON: CHURCH IN ZENICA RETURNED TO OWNERSHIP OF THE SERBIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH

BELGRADE, FEBRUARY 3 /SRNA/ - The church in Zenica has been returned to the ownership of the Serbian Orthodox Church /SPC/, announced Arno Gujon, director of the Office for Public and Cultural Diplomacy.

"Thanks to the media and institutional efforts of people from the Republika Srpska and Serbia, the church in Zenica has been returned to the ownership of the Serbian Orthodox Church, as it should have been from the very beginning," Gujon wrote on the social network X.

The Office headed by Gujon welcomed the decision of the competent federal court for recognizing the actual and historical owner.

"We hope that this approach will continue throughout the Federation and that property will be registered to its rightful owners regardless of religious or national affiliation," Gujon stated.

He particularly emphasized the role of the Committee for the Protection of the Rights of Serbs in the Federation of BiH, which for years has systematically pointed out violations of the property rights of the Serbian people and the Serbian Orthodox Church in the Federation of BiH.

The Committee for the Protection of the Rights of Serbs in FBiH announced last week that the church and the land around it in Zenica had been registered as property of the "state" in full ownership.

It was stated that this was done during the harmonization of land registry and cadastre records, by a decision of the Municipal Court in Zenica dated May 16, 2019.
