EGIĆ AND GOGANOVIĆ VISITED DAMAGED CEMETERY IN PEČUJ

ZENICA, SEPTEMBER 16 /SRNA/ – The Minister of Labor and Veterans' and Disabled Protection of Republika Srpska Danijel Egić visited today the Orthodox cemetery in the village of Pečuj near Zenica, where vandals broke and damaged more than 60 crosses and tombstones.

Egić visited the cemetery together with the Zenica parish priest Marko Maleš, accompanied by several locals.

Deputy Minister of Defense in the Council of Ministers Aleksandar Goganović also joined the tour of the destroyed monuments.

At the Orthodox cemetery in the village of Pečuj, two kilometers from the center of Zenica, 60 tombstones were destroyed.

It has not yet been determined who broke the crosses at the Orthodox cemetery in Pečuj, some of which are more than 150 years old, testifying to the centuries-long presence of Serbs in this area.

The vandal desecration of Serb graves in Pečuj is the latest in a series of attacks on Serbs and their property in the Federation of BiH.
