ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, MAY 30 /SRNA/ - The surviving residents who managed to escape death testified about the crime against the Serbian population in Ledići, committed by Muslim-Croatian formations.
The testimony states, among other things, that "the majority of the population of this village attended the meeting on June 2, 1992, to which representatives of the Muslim villages of Dejčići and Dujmovići came with the intention of agreeing on a future common life".
"An agreement was reached not to attack each other. We fully agreed and agreed on this if it was not a `foreign army` that came. The next day, June 3, our people who were on reconnaissance saw a large number of people - both in uniforms or without uniforms - coming to the village of Dejčići, as well as a large number of vehicles. On the same day, at 4:00 p.m., a review was carried out, and there were about 200 of them in the line. The review was carried out by Edo Godinjak.
Before the review, Nenad Vasić and his wife Mara were herding sheep near Dejčići, and they were both killed there. After the line-up, the encirclement of the village of Ledići began at 5:30 p.m., and the attack was carried out that same afternoon. The first shot fired set fire to Milanko Tešan's barn," the testimony states.
All capable villagers, it is added, began to resist the attackers, but there were only 23 capable and armed men in the village. The fight lasted until 2:30 a.m.
On June 5, 1992, two people from the village of Trebečaj came to Ledići and announced that the Muslims had burned down all the surrounding Serb villages in Trnovo and slaughtered all the civilians. They also said that they would carry out a new attack on Ledići that evening. The residents of Ledići took refuge in the surrounding forest, while a part of them set off with these two people towards Treskavica to reach Kalinovik. The rest of the population took a different route in order to later cross into Serb territory.
ENEMY FORMATIONS THAT PARTICIPATED IN THE ATTACK
In the attack on the village of Lediće, with the aim of ethnically cleansing it of the Serbian population, several mixed formations of the so-called Army of BiH participated, of which the "Trnovo-Hadžići Battalion" and the "Kiev Company" can be said with certainty to have been dominant in the area of Trnovo, according to the Atlas of Crimes Against Serbs During the Defensive-Patriotic War.
The majority of the enemy forces were groups of members of the Territorial Defense of Trnovo, in cooperation with members of the Ministry of Interior of the so-called Republic of BiH, i.e. members of the Trnovo Public Security Station and units of the HOS.
All of them, in jointly coordinated actions, committed an unprecedented crime against the civilian population of Serbian nationality, which was practically exterminated in Ledići.
From the statements of the surviving witnesses of this crime, one can say in certainty that the Muslim-Croatian formations were several dozen times more numerous than the Serb people, who during the tragic period of time were in their centuries-old homes and were not ready to offer organized resistance. /to be continued/
