ZELJKOVIĆ: CLEARER LEGAL FRAMEWORK FOR TAXI OPERATORS

BANJA LUKA, SEPTEMBER 30 /SRNA/ - SNSD candidate for the Republika Srpska National Assembly from Electoral Unit 3 Bogoljub Zeljković told SRNA that he was familiar with the problems facing taxi operators and believed it was time for the issue to be regulated clearly and fairly by law. "As an MP, I will advocate amendments to the Road Transport Law to allow the transfer and inheritance of the right to a taxi license, with clearly defined professional and technical requirements that the new holder would have to meet", Zeljković said. He said it was unfair for someone to invest in a business for years, build a livelihood and create value, only for their family to have no possibility of continuing that business and preserving what had been built over time. "I will also advocate consideration of the possibility of selling or leasing a license, under clear rules that would prevent abuse and protect taxi operators. Taxi drivers deserve legislation that reflects real life and protects what they have built through their work", Zeljković said.
