SELAK: KARAN TO CONFIRM VICTORY EVEN IF ELECTIONS ARE REPEATED

BANJA LUKA, DECEMBER 25 /SRNA/ – The President of the SPS Goran Selak has stated today that the victory of the newly elected President of Republika Srpska Siniša Karan will be confirmed even if elections are repeated at the polling stations where the Central Election Commission /CEC/ of BiH annulled the results.

"If elections are repeated, we will all go and call on all citizens in the electoral units where the elections were annulled to come out in defense of Republika Srpska," Selak told reporters in Banja Luka after the meeting of the ruling coalition parties.

He assessed the CEC decision as illegal and unconstitutional, while expressing hope that reasonable people will be there during the appeals process and recognize that the CEC had no authority to take such action.

Selak added that no one had access to the processes, analyses, or expert assessments that led to this decision.

According to him, it has now become evident that what the ruling coalition has previously warned about is happening: a segment of the international community seeks loyalists in institutions such as the CEC, as well as loyalists within Republika Srpska's institutions.

For this reason, Selak said, the early elections in Republika Srpska were organized - to bring in individuals who would "run Republika Srpska according to their measure".

The CEC of BiH annulled the early elections for the President of Republika Srpska at 136 polling stations in 17 electoral units across Republika Srpska.
