BANJA LUKA, OCTOBER 14 /SRNA/ – The citizens of Republika Srpska have sent a clear message in the recent elections that the SNSD is the absolute winner and that Milorad Dodik and the SNSD will represent the ruling authorities in Republika Srpska, as well as the Serb people in the joint institutions at the BiH level, SNSD spokesperson Radovan Kovačević said.

Kovačević said there was no need to comment on the election results, but rather to accept the will of the people.

“The election results must be accepted and welcomed, regardless of whether someone likes them or not. We are not particularly concerned about what is being heard from in the FBiH; what matters the most is what the citizens of Republika Srpska have said,” Kovačević stated.

He emphasized that the people’s message was entirely clear and unequivocal - absolute support for Milorad Dodik, the SNSD and their policies.

Regarding the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, Kovačević said that the SNSD had won more than 220,000 votes from citizens of Republika Srpska, representing over 40 per cent of the vote.

“The citizens have sent a message that the SNSD is by far the strongest political party, even though the SDA will have somewhat more seats due to the Constitution of BiH. However, our political group will have at least nine and probably 10 deputies in the House of Representatives,” Kovačević said.

He pointed out that no other political party had received anywhere near 100,000 votes for the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly.

“In Republika Srpska, the SNSD and its political group received more than 350,000 votes, while the entire opposition, together with those parties that failed to cross the electoral threshold, received around 150,000 votes,” Kovačević specified.

Regarding the negotiations that will follow, Kovačević said that the SNSD could not accept anything imposed from outside that had not passed through the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.

“We must discuss the Central Election Commission, everything that has been imposed in the Electoral Law of BiH, the Constitutional Court of BiH, and whether we should adopt a law on the Constitutional Court before proceeding with its composition. All those willing to hold talks on that basis and within the framework of the Constitution of BiH could be potential partners,” Kovačević told BHRT.

He noted that the parties of the “Troika” coalition, which had taken a rigid and radical stance towards the SNSD, had suffered a debacle in the elections.

“That is something that needs to be recognized. They confronted us and lost. They said they would sweep us away, but they did not sweep us away anywhere. The people judged that we are the absolute winners and they are the absolute losers,” Kovačević concluded.
