GENERAL ELECTIONS TODAY

SARAJEVO, OCTOBER 4 /SRNA/ – General elections are being held in BiH today, with 518 officeholders to be elected from among 7,028 certified candidates.

The elections are being held for the positions of president and vice-presidents of Republika Srpska, the Presidency of BiH, the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, the House of Representatives of the FBiH, and cantonal assemblies.

A total of 3,408,517 voters are eligible to vote, while 48,078 voters are registered abroad. A total of 45,457 voters will vote by mail, while 2,621 voters will cast their ballots at 20 diplomatic and consular missions of BiH in 13 countries.

Polling stations will open at 7:00 a.m., and an election silence period is in effect until the polling stations close at 7:00 p.m.

This year's elections will be the first in BiH to use biometric voter identification, ballot scanners, and rapid transmission of election results.

Voters may exercise their right to vote using one of the valid identification documents of BiH: an identity card, driver's license, or passport.

More than 4,000 operators will be present at polling stations to provide technical support, along with 500 field technicians to resolve any potential problems with voter identification and ballot-scanning devices.

The Central Election Commission of BiH has appointed more than 5,000 polling station committee presidents and around 3,300 deputies, while municipal and city election commissions have faced difficulties appointing polling station committee members and deputies due to an insufficient number of nominations submitted by political entities.
