BANJA LUKA, OCTOBER 4 /SRNA/ – Citizens’ voting in the general elections is proceeding peacefully, regardless of delays in opening 201 polling stations, the Republika Srpska Ministry of Interior /MoI/ announced.
“Out of the 1,957 polling stations in Republika Srpska, 201 were not opened at 7:00 a.m. The voting process is proceeding peacefully, without incidents,” the statement said.
The MoI’s “Elections 2026” headquarters is monitoring the situation and taking measures aimed at maintaining a favourable security situation in Republika Srpska.
“On the occasion of the general elections, citizens have access to Ministry locations for issuing personal documents from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Services related to identity cards, residence, temporary residence and the Unique Master Citizen Number /JMB/, including registration/enrollment, will be available to citizens,” the statement said.
Republika Srpska Interior Minister Željko Budimir issued an order banning the transport of explosives, weapons and military equipment by road, except for the transport of anti-hail rockets for the needs of the Anti-Hail Prevention service, as well as the transport of pyrotechnic devices for scheduled fireworks from midnight until 6:00 a.m. on Monday.
Traffic is also prohibited for freight vehicles with a total weight exceeding 3.5 tonnes.
