BANJA LUKA, OCTOBER 2 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska Minister of Interior Željko Budimir says the police officers are committed to taking all necessary measures and actions to ensure that the electoral process proceeds peacefully and safely, without disruption of public order and peace.


Budimir attended a meeting of the Republika Srpska Ministry of Interior “Elections 2026” Headquarters, where previous activities and measures being undertaken to maintain security during the pre-election, election and post-election periods were discussed.

Republika Srpska Police Director Siniša Kostrešević, who heads the Headquarters, said that on the day of the general elections, October 4, joint police and prosecutor teams would be deployed and on duty to respond efficiently in the event of any suspicion of criminal offenses related to the electoral process.

He stressed that the Republika Srpska Ministry of Interior is continuing enhanced activities and coordination with the relevant institutions, with the aim of maintaining citizens’ security and creating conditions for the unhindered exercise of their voting rights.

During the election campaign, police officers provided security for 395 campaign rallies throughout Republika Srpska, with no recorded incidents involving disturbances of public order and peace, the Ministry of Interior announced.
