BANJA LUKA, APRIL 8 /SRNA/ - The female chamber choir "Banjalučanke" will participate from April 13 to 17 in the renowned 19th International Choir Competition in Budapest, which will gather more than 30 choirs from 12 countries.
Under the artistic direction of composer and conductor Mladen Matović, "Banjalučanka" will perform at this significant and licensed international competition as the only representative from Republika Srpska and BiH.
Matović pointed out that the preparations for this significant choral competition began at the end of last year, and that he believes in another representative presentation of our culture and art at the international level.
"Given the number of participating countries and the quality of the ensembles registered, it is an exceptional honor and privilege to be a representative of my city and Republika Srpska at a competition like this, and as always, we will do our best to justify the results so far and the high rating of our choir," Matović told SRNA.
He said that the members of this choir go to Budapest with the desire to, first of all, enjoy the music, but also to do their best to show the audience and the jury what they have prepared.
"The result is not as important to us as the desire to maintain continuity on the international stage and test our capabilities before major world competitions in the coming year," Matović said.
He mentioned that the "Banjalučanke" choir, in addition to participating in the competition in Budapest, expects two all-night gala concerts in Banja Luka as important activities in the coming period.
"The concerts will be held in the Banski Dvor Cultural Center, and during this year we will also start activities on the creation of an extensive and reference monograph as part of the preparations for the jubilee celebration - 50 years of work of the choir `Banjalučanke,`" announced Matović.
