SARAJEVO, DECEMBER 1 /SRNA/ - There is no justification for the shameful chanting of BiH national team fans during the basketball match against the Serbian national team, who in Sarajevo demonstrated everything that is neither sport nor virtue, the Embassy of Serbia in BiH stated.
The Serbian Embassy noted that it is sad that the disgraceful cheering, filled with hatred toward Serbia, its president Aleksandar Vučić, and its people, overshadowed last night’s basketball match in Skenderija and the fair play displayed by both teams on the court.
In a post on X, the Embassy of Serbia stated that there is no justification for the actions of the home fans who, during the playing of the Serbian national anthem, chanted from the stands: "No one will ever hate you as I do."
"Sport shapes virtues. Unfortunately, the fans of the BiH national team demonstrated last night at the match everything that is neither sport nor virtue," the post said.
The diplomatic mission expressed regret over the chanting by the BiH fans last night.
The Serbian basketball team defeated the BiH squad 74–72 last night in Sarajevo in the second-round match of the World Cup qualifiers.
The Serbian basketball team was met with hostility in Sarajevo. BiH fans booed during the playing of Serbia’s national anthem "Bože pravde" /`O God of Justice`/, and waved flags of the so-called Army of BiH, under which numerous crimes were committed against the Serb people.
During the first half, insults targeting Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Serbia could be heard from the stands.
