BRČKO, JULY 10 /SRNA/ - Brčko Mayor Siniša Milić said he understands Republika Srpska’s concern regarding the motorway route through the district, given that there is no agreement on continuing the route from the direction of Banja Luka towards Bijeljina and Belgrade, adding that an institutional response must be found.
"We have heard announcements that other solutions will be considered if an agreement regarding the Brčko area is not reached. That is completely understandable. We will have to find an institutional response to these warnings and to the obvious violation of the rights that Republika Srpska has in this area," Milić said.
He added that one of the solutions proposed today by President Milorad Dodik was to reroute the motorway via the bypass.
"I thank the President and the Prime Minister for the continuous concern they show for the citizens of Republika Srpska and for the overall situation in the territory of the District, and I am certain that this support will be even more significant in the coming period," Milić stressed.
Milić added that at today’s meeting with President Dodik, they discussed specific projects and support from the budget of Republika Srpska.
"I would like to thank both the President and the Prime Minister for announcing this support, which I am certain will be provided in the very near future," Milić said.
He said that he would discuss with businesspeople from the Brčko District how the Government of Republika Srpske can continue to support the District's economy, since the District is, after all, a single integrated area inhabited by citizens of Republika Srpske.
