ŠEHOVAC: HELEZ CAN ONLY ABOLISH BiH WITH NARRATIVE ABOUT ABOLISHING ENTITIES

ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, JANUARY 10 /SRNA/ – Deputy Chairman of the Presidency of the Republika Srpska War Veterans Organisation /BORS/, Goran Šehovac, says that the Minister of Defence in the Council of Ministers, Zukan Helez, can only abolish BiH with the narrative about abolishing the entities.

Šehovac stressed that people holding responsible positions, such as the minister of defence in the Council of Ministers, should not make war-mongering statements about abolishing Republika Srpska.

"If BiH were a serious country, Helez would be immediately dismissed and prosecuted for such statements," Šehovac told SRNA, commenting on Helez’s statement that "the time has come to begin a serious discussion on abolishing the entities in BiH."

He emphasized that Helez had no say when Republika Srpska was created, nor will he ever have a say in its fate.

Šehovac says that no one can abolish Republika Srpska, noting that it is a permanent creation of the Serb people, for which more than 25,000 soldiers gave their lives.

According to him, statements such as Helez’s do not contribute to stability, but may call the survival of BiH into question.

Šehovac believes that such statements achieve nothing except raising tensions, and that citizens need economic development and a better standard of living, not messages that undermine the constitutional order.

He reiterated that Republika Srpska would keep marking January 9 as Republic Day, and that the institutions and citizens of Srpska would be working to ensure a better life for everyone living in it
