SDA REQUEST FOR BRČKO TO JOIN FBiH HAS NO BASIS

BELGRADE, MAY 1 /SRNA/ - The former Minister of Foreign Affairs of FR Yugoslavia Vladislav Jovanović told SRNA that the SDA's demand that Brčko joins the Federation of BiH /FBiH/ is one-sided and has no basis in the agreement on the district.

Jovanović pointed out that any attempt to tamper with the status of this district can cause problems, misunderstandings and fractures, and that he believes that the international community will not allow it.

He stated that the district is joint and independent, it would not belong to any party, and added that 50 percent belongs to Republika Srpska and 50 percent to the FBiH.

Jovanović added that this was done for geostrategic reasons by the Western powers, in order to cut off the direct land connection of Republika Srpska with Serbia, and on the other hand, to enable some kind of exit of FBiH to the Sava River.

"The international community should not, in my opinion will not allow such a delicate agreement to be unilaterally amended in favour of one party, this time the aggressive one, which is FBiH. When I say aggressive, I mean in relation to the development of Srpska and its competences," Jovanović stressed.

He considers the request of the SDA as an attempt to alarm the situation in BiH from the people of the FBiH, so that the tension, which is maintained towards Republika Srpska from various artificial and unjustified directions, would be maintained.
