SARAJEVO, NOVEMBER 5 /SRNA/ – The politicized decision of the Constitutional Court of BiH, based on an extralegal act of the illegitimate "High Representative," clearly does not contribute to achieving internal political stabilization in BiH, the Russian Embassy in BiH told SRNA.
The incomplete Constitutional Court of BiH yesterday rejected the appeal filed by the defense of President Milorad Dodik against the verdict of the Court of BiH, which sentenced him to one year in prison and imposed a six-year ban on political activity for "failing to comply with the decisions of Christian Schmidt".
Dodik was tried for a criminal offense that was introduced into the Criminal Code of BiH on the basis of a decision made by Christian Schmidt.
In the reasoning of its decision, the Constitutional Court of BiH stated, among other things, that by adopting amendments to the Criminal Code of BiH, Schmidt "acted as the legislative authority of BiH" and that this "amendment has the legal character of a domestic regulation".
At the extraordinary session, the incomplete Constitutional Court also reviewed the appeal filed by President Dodik's legal team against the decision of the Central Election Commission of BiH dated August 6, which was also rejected as unfounded.
Members of President Dodik's legal team announced that they would file an appeal with the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.
The Court of BiH convicted President Dodik of "failing to comply with the decisions of Christian Schmidt" for signing a decree promulgating a law adopted by the National Assembly of Republika Srpska.
