NO DELAY IN ADOPTING LEGISLATION AS DRONE TRAFFIC IS INCREASING

SARAJEVO, SEPTEMBER 4 /SRNA/ - Director of the BiH Air Navigation Services Agency /BHANSA/ Davorin Primorac says the adoption of legislative solutions should not be delayed, given the security risks posed by the rapid growth in drone traffic.

BHANSA has already taken concrete steps to address the security risks arising from the rapid growth in unmanned aircraft traffic, the Agency said.

Primorac says they have an operational response prepared, as well as the necessary technical and professional capacity, and that the required legislative solutions have been drafted.

BHANSA has prepared an operational plan envisaging action in two parallel phases. The first is focused on safety, detection and implementation of the necessary measures, while the second involves establishing a U-space system that will enable the safe and orderly management of unmanned aircraft traffic.

Karsten Stoye, Head of the Civil-Military Cooperation Division at Eurocontrol, said that the growing number of unmanned aircraft operating at lower altitudes will be one of the biggest new challenges to the security and resilience of European airspace over the next five years.
