SARAJEVO, OCTOBER 17 /SRNA/ – The Prosecutor's Office of BiH has not made a prosecutorial decision for over a year and a half in the case against Muhamed Hasić, who is suspected of terrorism.
Hasić is suspected of having spent several years on foreign battlefields in Syria and Iraq, within the terrorist organisation Islamic State, which has been designated a terrorist group by the UN Security Council.
"The case is ongoing, and once a prosecutorial decision is made, the public will be informed," the BiH Prosecutor's Office told BIRN.
Initially, the Court of BiH ordered custody for Hasić, which was later replaced with restriction measure, including a ban on leaving his residence, traveling, and meeting certain individuals.
After the defeat of the so-called Islamic State, the suspect spent an extended period hiding in Turkey, where, thanks to the work of the Prosecutor's Office and its partner institutions and agencies, he was located, identified, and eventually extradited to BiH, earlier announced the Prosecutor's Office.
Hasić was arrested on February 16, 2024, upon arrival at the Sarajevo Airport.
