ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, SEPTEMBER 9 /SRNA/ - By bombing Republika Srpska, NATO showed its willingness to sacrifice civilians for its illusory goals, the Russian Embassy in BiH said on the occasion of September 9, the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of NATO Bombing in Republika Srpska.
"Human lives can in no way be `collateral damage,`" the Russian Embassy said.
It noted that particularly concerning is the fact that NATO used depleted uranium ammunition during the bombing, meaning that the consequences of the attacks are still present in BiH.
"NATO is also demonstrating its aggressive nature in Ukraine, where it is constantly working to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia," the statement said.
The Russian Embassy in BiH pointed out that NATO is actively promoting the remilitarization of Europe, including through support for supplying weapons to Kyiv.
"The expansion of NATO and its advance toward Russia's borders represent a form of geopolitical aggression," the Russian Embassy concluded.
The Day of Remembrance for the Victims of NATO Bombing in Republika Srpska is being marked today in Istočna Ilidža. More than 50 members of the Army of Republika Srpska and civilians were killed during the 1995 bombing, while more than 120 were wounded.
