SARAJEVO, MARCH 30 /SRNA/ - Counterterrorism expert Dževad Galijašević told SRNA that the organization Muslim Brotherhood represents a global terrorist structure with a strong political program, whose theorists were once led by Alija Izetbegović.

Galijašević assessed that there is no global terrorism without a political concept stemming from the activities of the Muslim Brotherhood, which, combined with the religious teachings of Wahhabism, forms a complete ideological framework.

Regarding BiH, Galijašević stated that these structures have been active since the time of Husein Đozo, the chief imam of the Handschar Division during World War II, whose name is still borne by streets in Sarajevo.

Galijašević emphasized that the "Muslim Brotherhood" had influence in historical processes, including the period of World War II, and that one of its prominent members, Amin al-Husseini, was connected with the formation of the Handschar Division.

He recalled that, together with parts of the Islamic community during the time of the Independent State of Croatia, organizations such as the Young Muslims were formed, whose members later participated in the establishment of political parties, including the Party of Democratic Action.

"This is a pro-Nazi structure that was prosecuted in the SFRY; four of its members were executed, while Alija Izetbegović, as one of its members, was imprisoned in 1946 and spent three years in prison," Galijašević said.

He stated that Alija Izetbegović translated theorists of the Muslim Brotherhood, primarily Muhammad Qutb, the brother of Sayyid Qutb, who was linked to the assassination of Egyptian President Anwar Sadat and the attempted assassination of another president, Gamal Abdel Nasser.

He added that these structures continued to develop during the 1990s war, noting the arrival of foreign fighters and the formation of the El Mujahideen unit.

He pointed out that these structures are connected with war crimes and terrorism, assessing that such activities should not have been allowed in BiH.

According to Galijašević, these groups are now integrated into the political system and operate through certain centers of power, which is why he called on the relevant institutions to take measures, including identifying and prosecuting their members, as well as analyzing their activities in public and online spaces.

SNSD President Milorad Dodik stated today that he expects the Presidency of BiH to make a decision declaring the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization, dangerous to BiH, its citizens, and the world as a whole.
