BANJA LUKA, SEPTEMBER 2 /SRNA/ – Minister of Finance and Treasury in the Council of Ministers Srđan Amidžić says that more than 50 percent of international projects financed in BiH by international financial institutions and organisations are being implemented in Republika Srpska.
“This points to the capacity of the Republika Srpska Government and the Ministry of Finance, and is yet another confirmation of Republika Srpska’s international credibility,” Amidžić told the press in Banja Luka today.
Amidžić and Republika Srpska Finance Minister Zora Vidović signed a subsidiary agreement on an IBRD loan for the Health Systems Improvement Project – Additional Financing, with a total value of EUR 45 million allocated to Republika Srpska.
He said that they had already demonstrated, together with the Republika Srpska Government, that they are a good team, and that they are entering into a joint project with partners from the World Bank.
Amidžić reiterated that the total value of the project is EUR 45 million, with a repayment period of 32 years, including a seven-year grace period and an interest rate of around three percent.
“These are exceptionally favourable funds, and this joint project should contribute to improving the quality of healthcare and help improve the status of employees in healthcare institutions in Republika Srpska,” Amidžić concluded.
Republika Srpska Minister of Health and Social Welfare Alen Šeranić also attended the signing ceremony.
The project is aimed at improving the efficiency, quality and accessibility of healthcare, particularly by strengthening preventive and primary healthcare and reducing unnecessary hospital admissions.
Particular attention will be paid to strengthening disease surveillance systems, epidemiological capacities, clinical guidelines, digital health systems and the more efficient provision of hospital services.
The management and financial sustainability of healthcare institutions will be strengthened through a new financial reporting system, debt management, the settlement of tax obligations and the use of information technologies.
