BELGRADE, JUNE 27 /SRNA/ – The burning of the Republika Srpska flag, by shouting “Allahu Akbar,” represents a dangerous act against peace, Republika Srpska and the Serb people, said Miodrag Linta, the head of the Association of Serbs from the Region.

Linta warned that this reckless provocation further deepens divisions, spreads mistrust and raises tensions between the two peoples.

“This reckless provocation is not an isolated incident, but the result of a constant and deliberate demonisation of Republika Srpska and the persistent repetition of false narratives by Bosniak politicians about Serbia, Republika Srpska and Serbs as culprits for wars, criminals and aggressors,” Linta said in a statement.

He stressed that the international community has a major responsibility and obligation to send a strong message to official Sarajevo to strongly condemn the mentioned hate crime, and to ensure that the competent institutions urgently find the organisers and perpetrators of this barbaric act and punish them in accordance with the law.

A video has appeared on social media showing a group of hooligans removing the Republika Srpska flag from a flagpole and then burning it, accompanied by shouts of “Allahu Akbar” and insults.

Federal media report that the flag was located on a flagpole placed along the inter-entity boundary line between Republika Srpska and the FBiH.
