SARAJEVO, OCTOBER 14 /SRNA/ – Sarajevo and its political establishment must change their perception of Banja Luka and Republika Srpska, and decisions in BiH must be made by local politicians, Serb deputy in the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly Radovan Kovačević said.
Describing the Sarajevo – Banja Luka relations, Kovačević says that in Republika Srpska, road signs pointing towards Sarajevo exist along the roads leading to the city, whereas the same is not the case in the FBiH when it comes to Banja Luka.
Kovačević said this was a sufficient indication and a vivid illustration of how Sarajevo and its political establishment viewed Banja Luka and Republika Srpska.
He emphasized that a major diplomatic success was the fact that representatives of one of the world's leading powers, the United States, had stated very clearly that decisions in BiH should be made by local politicians.
"Through Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the US ambassador to the UN and all other representatives of the United States, a message has been conveyed that decisions in BiH should be made by internal factors, representatives of the two entities and the three constituent peoples. Now look at that difference again, just as with the road signs," Kovačević said.
Kovačević noted that those who believed this was not the right approach would have to come to terms with the fact that, at some point, Banja Luka would say: "We obviously have no one to talk to, so we will have to find our own path".
"I believe this is absolutely clear to everyone around the world, and that apparently only those in Sarajevo still fail to understand it. The sooner they accept this, the greater the possibility of some kind of future for BiH," Kovačević said.
