KOŠARAC: 2.5 MILLION EURO AGREEMENT SIGNED FOR PRODUCTION OF GREEN AND HEALTHY FOOD

BARI, OCTOBER 11 /SRNA/ - Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers Staša Košarac signed today a 2.5 million Euro agreement with the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Bari on the implementation of the project "Transition to Green and Healthy Food Production in BiH".

Košarac stated that during his official visit to Bari, a working meeting was held with the Institute’s management, at which the results of previous cooperation and projects implemented in the field of agriculture were analyzed.

"The effects of our joint activities are particularly evident in smaller rural areas of Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH, where they have contributed to the development of local communities and the improvement of the standard of living", Košarac said.

He emphasized that talks particularly focused on opportunities to support agro-Mediterranean crops in Herzegovina, as well as on their branding.

Košarac recalled that a project for the construction of the Romanija House in Sokolac is being implemented in cooperation with the Institute in Bari, and added that discussions also covered the implementation of similar projects in Bileća and Višegrad, specifically, the construction of the Bileća House and the Drina House.

"We also focused on possible support for beekeeping and fisheries, with an emphasis on the fish stocking system for Lake Bileća and the Neretva River", Košarac said.

He expressed satisfaction that the Italian side had supported his initiative for the joint nomination of environmental projects to the Green Climate Fund.

"I am grateful to the Institute’s management for their continued support, as well as for the agreed directions of cooperation and the key areas that are our priorities", Košarac wrote on Instagram.

Košarac added that, following the good practices from Bari, the focus will be on projects aimed at improving agricultural production through the application of modern methods and techniques, which, as he emphasized, will make farmers’ work easier and reduce risks.

"These are strategic steps that can revitalize rural areas and contribute to the development of our agricultural sector", Košarac said.
