INDICTMENT FILED AGAINST TWO PERSONS FOR CRIMES AGAINST SERB PRISONERS IN DOBOJ

SARAJEVO, DECEMBER 30 /SRNA/ - The Prosecutor's Office of BiH has filed an indictment against Sead Arnautović and Samir Mehinović for war crimes against Serb prisoners in the Doboj area.

The indictment reads that, during the armed conflict between the so-called Army of BiH and the Republika Srpska Army /RSA/ in the municipality of Doboj, they acted in violation of the provisions of the Geneva Conventions on the protection of prisoners of war and committed the criminal offense of war crimes against prisoners of war.

Arnautović has been charged in his capacity as commander of the 109th Doboj Brigade of the so-called Army of BiH, and Mehinović is charged in his capacity as the commander of the military police of that brigade, the Prosecutor's Office of BiH said.

According to the indictment, from July 10 to July 15, 1992, they held four captured members of the RSA in detention facilities of the military police in Klokotnica.

Members of the RSA were subjected daily to physical and psychological abuse, without being provided medical care that was available at a nearby health center.

One of the prisoners of war died as a result of torture, abuse, beatings, and other inhumane treatment, as well as the denial of adequate medical assistance.
