“HANG SERBS FROM THE WILLOWS” AND “KNIFE, STAKE, JASENOVAC” GRAFFITI FOUND IN SCHOOL YARD IN GRČICA

BRČKO, SEPTEMBER 26 /SRNA/ - The graffiti “Hang Serbs from the Willows” and “Knife, Stake, Jasenovac” were written in black paint this afternoon in the schoolyard of the branch of the Second Elementary School in the Grčica neighborhood, as well as at several other locations in Brčko District.

Brčko District Mayor Siniša Milić strongly condemned these messages of hatred and expressed confidence that the District Police would efficiently and professionally identify those responsible and submit the case to the Prosecutor’s Office and the Court for prosecution.

He stressed that such content is particularly concerning when it appears in places intended for children to grow up carefree.

Milić called on citizens not to respond to such and similar incidents with new messages of hatred, stressing that Brčko must remain a place where differences are respected, and problems are resolved through dialogue and institutions.

“Hatred should be met with responsibility, and divisions with a firm determination to preserve peace and mutual respect, especially for the sake of our children, who have the right to grow up in a safe and tolerant society,” Milić said.
