EU DEMANDS REACTION FROM AUTHORITIES AFTER THREATENING LETTER TO SERBS AND SOC

SARAJEVO, OCTOBER 3 /SRNA/ – The EU Delegation to BiH has called on all relevant authorities to react without delay to all hate-motivated incidents, following a threatening letter sent to Serbs and the Serbian Orthodox Church /SOC/ in Tuzla.

"In a democratic country, there is no place for threats and insults against religious officials, therefore such actions should not be tolerated," the EU Delegation to BiH told SRNA.

The threatening letter to the Serbs and the SOC was sent from the Tuzla prison by Dževad Hasić, who stated that they are not welcome in that city, noting that the Orthodox priest would be converted to Islam, and the cross would be replaced with the crescent and star.

Hasić, who is already known for threats and acts of vandalism against Orthodox churches, stated in the letter that he would change the church bell to "vibration mode" and "convert the priest with the censer to Islam so that he can recite the call to prayer five times a day with great pleasure."
