DIZDAREVIĆ: NO INCREASE IN AIR RADIOACTIVITY LEVEL

SARAJEVO, DECEMBER 13 /SRNA/ – There has been no increase in air radioactivity level in BiH, Emir Dizdarević, Deputy Director of the BiH Radiation and Nuclear Safety Regulatory Agency, told SRNA.

Dizdarević noted that 15 days ago the International Atomic Energy Agency submitted a report on the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, adding that the cover of its protective dome was damaged, but not the main structure.

He said that they regularly monitor radioactivity measuring stations located in Kladuša, Novi Grad, Gradiška, Brod, Bijeljina, and Brčko.

“There is no increase in air radioactivity level. It is the natural background level that we measure around 100 nanosieverts per hour, which is normal,” Dizdarević said.

According to him, they are also monitoring radioactivity levels at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, where no increase has been recorded.

The new protective dome at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant was damaged in a drone attack in February.
