BRČKO, APRIL 15 /SRNA/ – Member of the SNSD Main Board Siniša Karan stated that the Brčko District is often used as a threat to Republika Srpska, but that it is not one, and that it does not represent a negation of the Serbian national identity but rather its affirmation.
"District must not be a threat to Republika Srpska, because it is not one in any way. The final arbitration decision has been fully respected, primarily by Republika Srpska,” Karan said after a meeting with members of the SNSD Brčko Committee, attended by SNSD leader Milorad Dodik.
Karan added that, on the other hand, the Federation of BiH has still not implemented all elements of the final arbitration decision.
“We wanted to emphasize in particular that the District is not a negation of the Serbian national identity, but rather an affirmation. Of course, we want the same for the other two constituent peoples as well,” Karan stressed.
He reminded that a key element of the District was the requirement for a multi-ethnic administration, which functions today, with each of the three peoples having equal rights.
“I must note that there is no need for the District Tribunal to continue functioning, but unfortunately it still does,” Karan said.
He stated that the meeting confirmed the good work of the SNSD committee in Brčko, strong organization and that SNSD representatives in the District authorities are doing their job well and protecting the interests of the Serb people in the District.
Karan stated that he congratulated the committee on its achievements, including in the recent unnecessary early elections, in which the District once again demonstrated its strength and commitment to Republika Srpska.
Karan also noted that Republika Srpska institutions are fully supporting the entire District.
