BANJA LUKA, AUGUST 26 /SRNA/ - Serb member of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović stated that it is unworthy to invent alleged formal flaws in her initiative to nominate US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, which was done by the other two Presidency members, Denis Bećirović and Željko Komšić, stressing that this issue should not be politicized or handled improperly.

"We should demonstrate respect and clearly state that Republika Srpska, with its institutions and citizens, firmly stands behind the proposal that should have been forwarded as Bosnia and Herzegovina's official initiative," Cvijanović told reporters in Banjaluka.

She emphasized that she still maintains the position that individuals who have made a strong contribution to establishing peace in the world deserve to be honored with recognition, respect, and symbolic gestures, adding that Trump deserves such acknowledgment given his recent actions.

Cvijanović underlined that she expressed the stance of 49 percent of BiH's territory, namely Republika Srpska, and that the initiative is fully justified.

"Bećirović and Komšić refused to include the proposal on the agenda, explaining that some formalities were missing, such as not specifying the year for which the nomination applies. But if you look at the letters submitted by other presidents or state representatives, you will see that such elements were not included either," Cvijanović noted.
