CVIJANOVIĆ: SULJAGIĆ'S CLAIMS ARE UNCONSTITUTIONAL AND MANIPULATIVE

BANJA LUKA, SEPTEMBER 29 /SRNA/ - The Serb member of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović said today in Banja Luka that statements by Srebrenica Memorial Center Director Emir Suljagić amounted to what she described as classic manipulation and an attack on the constitutional order.

Cvijanović said she was shocked by Suljagić's statements, which she described as unconstitutional and contrary to the Dayton Agreement because, he was claiming that the Republika Srpska Ministry of the Interior /MoI/ was not legitimate.

"That is an attack on the constitutional order. The role of the Republika Srpska MoI is recognized by the Constitution, and I do not know what purpose all these manipulations serve", Cvijanović said.

She noted that the statements had been denied by the most responsible institution, the Republika Srpska MoI.

"The MoI has said that none of what Suljagić is announcing exists", Cvijanović told reporters.

She said Suljagić's statements were an attempt to attract the attention of the international community because, some people were evidently unable to accept new realities.

"I condemn everything that serves the purpose of manipulation. I also condemn the manipulation of anyone's victims, as well as anyone who tries to disrupt relations that should be good in a complex community such as BiH", Cvijanović stressed.

She reminded that the Republika Srpska MoI operates in accordance with the law and the Constitution and carries out activities related to matters referred to it by the competent prosecutor's office.

"Citizens of Republika Srpska should not pay attention to this because these are Suljagić's manipulations. We are a stable society and we do everything in accordance with the law and the Constitution. There is no need to raise tensions", Cvijanović said.

She added that Suljagić's statements might be intended to conceal something, saying that the report was filed over alleged tax and contribution evasion, which must be paid in the place of residence.

"I do not know what lies behind all of this, but I condemn attempts to disrupt relations in this way. It is obvious that the report was filed by people from the Center, not by someone from outside", Cvijanović said.
