SARAJEVO, MAY 23 /SRNA/ - The Serb member of the BiH Presidency, Željka Cvijanović, sent a telegram of condolences to Chinese President Xi Jinping following the coal mine accident in Shanxi province in the north of the country, in which, according to the latest data, 90 miners were killed, emphasizing that we share the sorrow with the friendly Chinese people.
"It was with deep regret that I received the news of the terrible accident in the coal mine in Shanxi province, in which a large number of miners lost their lives while performing a difficult, demanding, and extremely dangerous job that, unfortunately, sometimes carries tragic consequences," stated Cvijanović.
She expressed her deepest condolences and asked that words of sincere sympathy be conveyed to the families of the victims, along with wishes for a quick and successful recovery for the injured, the BiH Presidency announced.
"We share the pain with the friendly Chinese people, as well as with the families who lost their loved ones in this accident," Cvijanović added.
The gas explosion occurred late last night at the Liushenyu coal mine in Qinyuan County while 247 workers were on duty underground.
According to the latest data, the death toll from the gas explosion has risen to 90, and nine miners are listed as missing.
