CVIJANOVIĆ PROPOSES HOLDING EMERGENCY PRESIDENCY SESSION WITH CONDEMNING IRAN’S ATTACKS ON GULF COUNTRIES AND JORDAN ON AGENDA

ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, MARCH 23 /SRNA/ – The Serb BiH Presidency member, Željka Cvijanović, has proposed holding an emergency session of the BiH Presidency to adopt a decision condemning Iran’s attacks on the Gulf Cooperation Council /GCC/ member states and Jordan, SRNA has learned.

The decision would also express support and include co-sponsorship of a United Nations Human Rights Council resolution of the same content.

According to SRNA’s sources, Cvijanović believes that, in light of the latest escalations in the Middle East, including attacks targeting several countries that are not parties to the conflict, it is necessary for the BiH Presidency to take a clear, unambiguous, and timely position.

Support for and co-sponsorship of this resolution would send a clear signal of BiH’s commitment to respecting international law, showing solidarity with the affected countries, and protecting civilian populations.

Given that the debate in the UN Human Rights Council is scheduled for March 25, Cvijanović, referring to the Rules of Procedure of the BiH Presidency, assessed that it is necessary for the BiH Presidency to adopt a decision in a timely manner that would enable active BiH’s participation, including co-sponsorship of the resolution and clear diplomatic positioning.
