SARAJEVO, APRIL 8 /SRNA/ - The Serbian member and Chairwoman of the BiH Presidency, Željka Cvijanović, said that BiH’s progress towards the EU can only be the result of domestic effort, not imposition.
After meeting with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, in Sarajevo, Cvijanović told reporters that Republika Srpska accepts solutions that are in line with democracy and the commitment to BiH’s progress towards the EU, as it has been voluntarily defined as a political goal.
"We do not accept when someone says 'you haven't done it, so a foreigner had to come and do it for you.' On the path to the EU, we need interlocutors who will not favor anyone but will treat all those living in BiH equally. These are constant positions, and I will never change them," emphasized Cvijanović.
She says that during the meeting, she also pointed out that nothing is happening in Republika Srpska that would undermine the territorial integrity of BiH, and that no one needs to be warned about that.
"In half of the country, that is, in Republika Srpska, we have a different view from the one being promoted in the other half, i.e., in the Federation of BiH, regarding whether something is or isn't undermining the constitutional order," said Cvijanović.
She also emphasized that the institutions in Republika Srpska do not believe they are doing anything that would undermine the constitutional order and that they assert that issues should be resolved through dialogue.
Cvijanović says she is committed to progress towards the EU, which must happen on solid foundations, not on slogans and invented Bonn powers.
