SARAJEVO, APRIL 8 /SRNA/ - The Serbian member and Chairwoman of the BiH Presidency, Željka Cvijanović, said that she told the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, during today’s meeting in Sarajevo, that an unelected foreigner cannot enact laws on behalf of domestic institutions.

Cvijanović emphasized that she informed Ms. Kallas that the Bonn powers have led BiH from one wrong station to another, and that only domestic institutions, in the spirit of democracy, should make decisions and carry out their work.

"In line with the saying, ‘when you board the wrong train, every station is the wrong one’ - the same goes for the Bonn Powers," Željka Cvijanović told reporters in Sarajevo following the meeting.

She emphasized that the European Union should not be used as a battleground for political confrontations.

Cvijanović thanked Ms. Kallas for her support and commitment to BiH's European path, noting that many obstacles are evident along the way.

"I believe that with reasonable conduct from both the EU and domestic authorities, we will be able to overcome these issues," said Željka Cvijanović.

She pointed out that the problems in BiH’s judiciary were created because Christian Schmidt amended the Criminal Code of BiH.

"Then they try to convince us that we enacted that law and that we must respect it. That’s not true - he is the one who enacted it," said Željka Cvijanović.

She said that the meeting was an opportunity for Ms. Kallas to see that there are differing perspectives in BiH, and to see the range of problems the country is facing
