BRONZA: BiH CITIZEN AMONG INJURED IN THE FIRE

BERN, JANUARY 3 /SRNA/ – The Ambassador of BiH to Switzerland, Boro Bronza, told SRNA that one BiH citizen was injured in the fire that broke out at the well-known ski resort of Crans-Montana on New Year’s Eve.

Bronza said that a major police investigation into the causes of the accident is underway and that it is too early to speak about responsibility and guilt.

"Swiss federal institutions and the institutions of the Canton of Valais are still not providing any information about the identities of the injured persons," Bronza said, adding that it has been announced that among the 113 injured persons identified so far there is one citizen of BiH.

He stated that the identity of the injured person is not yet known and expressed confidence that more information will be available in the coming days.

"The entire country is mourning over this unprecedented tragedy. Out of respect for the many young lives lost, numerous New Year’s celebrations have been canceled, such as the traditional January 1 fireworks display in Lucerne," Bronza said.

He emphasizes that the situation is particularly complex in the Canton of Valais, where hospitals are overcrowded, and that many of the injured will be transferred today to hospitals in Italy, France, Germany, and other countries.

Bronza says he is meeting today with the Swiss Ambassador to BiH, Gabriel Derighetti.

According to estimates by Swiss officials, the explosion and fire at a bar in the Swiss ski resort of Crans-Montana, leaves 47 people dead and 119 injured.
