ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, NOVEMBER 18 /SRNA/ – BiH being an international protectorate three decades after the Dayton Peace Agreement is absurd, sociologist Vladimir Vasić told SRNA.
Vasić says BiH has not moved toward independence and maturity for being blocked and suffocated by the illegal high representative and the international protectorate.
"BiH, as such, cannot function efficiently nor progress toward a truly democratic system," Vasić emphasized.
Vasić stresses that some individuals in official Sarajevo still oppose the Dayton Peace Agreement, the order it established, specially the name Republika Srpska, as well as its very existence.
"I believe certain individuals simply cannot accept that BiH is composed of three constituent peoples and two entities, and that according to the Dayton, by the letter and force of that agreement, no one has the right to outvote anyone, to favour anyone, or to dominate," Vasić stressed.
Vasić has warned that Bosniak politics is attempting to dominate over Croats in the Federation of BiH, stressing that it is evident similar attempts are being made toward Republika Srpska.
"I hope they will never succeed," Vasić said.
He has added that it seems that even today some parts of society behave as if the Dayton Peace Agreement were signed yesterday, bringing old topics back into focus.
The General Framework Agreement for Peace in BiH, better known as the Dayton Peace Agreement, was negotiated on November 21, 1995, at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, Ohio, USA, and officially signed on December 14 of the same year in Paris.
In the years after its signing, under pressure from the OHR and the Constitutional Court of BiH, a large number of competencies were taken away from Republika Srpska and transferred to the level of BiH.
