BANJA LUKA, SEPTEMBER 10 /SRNA/ – The demands by the leadership of Republika Srpska to abolish the OHR are legitimate and establishing a new confederal model in BiH should be taken in consideration, said Dragan Petrović, Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of International Politics and Economics in Belgrade.
“I believe that everything mentioned by Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik in Russia represents a reasonable solution, and it should be explored at the UN whether such elements can be implemented,” Petrović told SRNA, commenting on the recent meeting in Moscow between Dodik and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
He suggested that the Serb and Bosniak-Croat Federation could exist in a confederal relationship, while Bosniaks and Croats could remain in a federal arrangement with each other.
Petrović added that too much time has passed since the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement for a protectorate or colonial model of governance to still be in place.
“As for BiH, this can no longer be justified. It has lasted too long and makes no sense. There are still attempts to maintain a colonial approach, the best example of which is the Constitutional Court of BiH, where three foreign judges have decisive influence. In this way, and with the support of the Bosniaks, they are trying to rule over the Serbs and Croats,” Petrović stated.
