ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, SEPTEMBER 28 /SRNA/ – A welcome reception was held this evening in Princip Park in Istočno Novo Sarajevo for young boxer Đorđe Krsmanović, the new European champion in the under-73 kg category in the UBO version.
Krsmanović stated that he had prepared for this title for more than two months and that in the final match, held in Prilep (North Macedonia), he defeated Romanian fighter Mario Boboc by split decision.
"I went ten rounds of three minutes each. It was a close match, and I won by split decision," Krsmanović told reporters.
He emphasized that achieving this required a lot of effort and sacrifice and said that becoming the European champion was an incredible feeling.
Krsmanović's coach, Aleksandar Ivanović, said that the young boxer from Istočno Sarajevo had shown his remarkable talent and that this was just the beginning of his career.
He added that the future plan is for Krsmanović to go after one of the five major titles – WBA, WBI, WBC, WBO, or IBO.
"Most likely, the next title we’re targeting is the IBO, but that doesn’t depend solely on us. It also depends on manager Slađan Janjanin, who, alongside our club, played a key role in Đorđe getting this opportunity," Ivanović concluded.
Đorđe Krsmanović, a member of the 'Slavija' Boxing Club from Istočno Sarajevo, last night defeated Mario Boboc from Romania in Prilep to claim the title of European Champion in the UBO version.
