CALLS FOR LYNCHING ARE BEING SENT FROM POLITICAL SARAJEVO, KONAKOVIĆ ACTS ONLY IN THE INTEREST OF BOSNIAKS

BUDAPEST, APRIL 9 /SRNA/ - The Serbian member and Chairwoman of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović said that political Sarajevo is sending calls for the lynching of officials from Republika Srpska, and that this is related the political persecution of the democratically elected President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik through the judiciary.

"The calls from Sarajevo are persistently aimed at having someone arrested, sanctioned, or forcibly removed from their elected position through the judiciary. We have been fighting against such negative changes for years, and I am confident will win. This is indeed a witch hunt that cannot end well," Cvijanović said.

When it comes to the letter from the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Council of Ministers Elmedin Konaković to NATO in which he calls for foreign military intervention in BiH, Cvijanović said that Konaković acts only in the interest of the Bosniak people and does not respect the fact that in the other part of BiH – Republika Srpska – there is a different political will.

"It would be logical to align political wills in order to reach a common stance for the country," Cvijanović said at a press conference in Budapest after a meeting with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs Peter Szijjártó.

Cvijanović emphasized that the President of Republika Srpska is prosecuted by the judiciary because an unelected foreigner, pretending to be a parliament, amended the Criminal Code of BiH to stipulate that anyone who does not obey his decisions should go to prison.

"The indictment and verdict against the President of Republika Srpska say that Dodik, while fulfilling his constitutional duties, violated Schmidt's decision. This is absurd. If this is Europe, and such things can happen in Europe, then what should happen elsewhere?" Cvijanović said.

She emphasized that these are unacceptable things.

"What additionally disappoints me is the fact that all European countries know what is going on, and when private conversations take place, they say `it is not normal for a foreigner to be able to change our laws, but that’s how it happened.` How is it possible that they can accept such a practice and then claim that BiH is on the European path? These are incompatible things," Cvijanović pointed out.

She expressed gratitude to those who recognized that sanctions only mean a bad practice.

"We have been sanctioned simply because we oppose unconstitutional and illegal activities of those who have no right to decide on our behalf. I am grateful to Hungary for not giving its vote to sanctions at the EU level," Cvijanović said.

Recalling that the official stance of Croatia is also not to impose sanctions, Cvijanović said that this is important.

"It is important to us that they think in a way that things should be resolved politically through negotiations," Cvijanović said.

She pointed out that Hungary has been saying for years that democratically elected political leaders cannot be sanctioned because of the political will of someone in Europe.
